A man was killed by a group of acquaintances five years ago. Shintarou Nakamura, Akira Kanzaki, Ryuu Nimaidou, Haruka Nagase, and Tsubaki Toyoshima visit the murder site each year to renew their vow of secrecy. When they hear of a golf course development planned for the area, they return to move the body. Instead of finding remains, they discover a cell phone that starts ringing. After answering the call, they're informed by a stranger that the bones are missing and their crime has been exposed. To avoid imprisonment, they agree to complete a "favor" for the caller, but this task unravels a scheme that strains their bond.
In his earlier days, Kishou Arima, also known as the infamous "Reaper" of the Commission of Counter Ghoul, was tasked with attending high school to investigate a series of murders perpetrated by a ghoul with a ravenous appetite. However, what started as a solo mission took a quick turn when Arima partnered with his delinquent classmate, Taishi Fura. When Fura witnesses the brutal killing of his best friend at the hands of a masked ghoul named "Lantern," it seems inevitable that he will meet a similar fate. Luckily, Arima intervenes at the last moment, giving Fura a glimpse into the world of a ghoul investigator. Despite the ghoul eluding capture, Fura decides to team up with his classmate and savior, pledging to bring Lantern to justice.
In this story, the central focus is on a high school where certain students, known as "saviors," retain memories from their past lives. Moroha Haimura is a recent addition to this exclusive institution and it quickly becomes apparent that he possesses a unique combination of recollections from both Shirogane and Kuroma. The student population is split into two factions: the "saviors" who employ their Puraana powers to wield weapons and fight their enemies, and the "Kuroma" who use their Maana abilities to defeat foes by employing magical skills that defy the laws of physics.

During their journey, Jousuke uncovers allies and foes, realizing that personal interests and objectives reflect the virtues and vices of an individual's Stand. As the investigation unfolds, they uncover the hidden dangers and a mystery from Morioh's past.

As Riya struggles to understand his psychological issues that stem from societal pressures and expectations placed upon his talent, he begins to realize the importance of Atsushi's presence in his life.
