Rikka, also known as Asterisk, is an Academy City situated on water, and it hosts the world's largest stage for an integrated battle entertainment called the "Star Wars Festival." In this festival, young boys and girls belonging to six academies, known as the "Starpulse Generation," compete with each other for supremacy, wielding Shining Armaments to fulfill their wishes. Amagiri Ayato is one of the participants. Ayato visited Rikka at the invitation of Claudia, the Student Council President of Seidoukan Academy.
