When they invited Riki to join them in their playtime adventures, he became their fifth member. Playing with them helped Riki overcome his grief and led to genuine enjoyment of life's simple pleasures. As the story begins, Riki, Kyousuke, and their friends are in their second and third years of high school, and they continue to spend time together and savor the joys of school.
