Set 7 years before the events at the beginning of the original Saint Seiya Manga, and 6 years after the death of the Gold Saint Sagittarius Aiolos, Episode G revolves around Athena's Saints, humans with superhuman powers who are devoted to the Goddess of War Athena, and whose duty is to protect the world from evil. The protagonist is the Leo Gold Saint, Aiolia, who is mistrusted by the rest of the Saints because of the seemingly traitorous actions of his brother Sagittarius Aiolos in the past. In turn, he holds a grudge against the Saints as a whole, and against the elite order of the Gold Saints in particular. While the Pope, the leader of the Saints, sends Aiolia on mission after mission to prove his loyalty, evil forces manifest that threaten to destroy Sanctuary, the home of the Saints. A modern-day Titanomachy begins as the Titans, ancient gods with a desire for revenge on the Olympian gods, attack Sanctuary to retrieve the "Megas Drepanon", the weapon into which Zeus had sealed their King, Kronos, in the age of mythology. Their first assault is thwarted by Aiolia, who subsequently gains the attention of the Titans as the "man of the evil omen" who is destined to free their King. With the Titans once again roaming the Earth, ancient monsters are also resurrected worldwide and the Saints have to deal with them.
This story starts after events in Episode G.
Once sealed away by Seiya, the god of war and protector of Mars is about to be resurrected. Athena, known as Saori Kido, is busy raising Kouga, a boy whose life was saved by Seiya. Kouga has been tirelessly training to become a Saint in anticipation of the impending crisis. Little does Kouga know his fate is sealed, for his Cosmo is a dormant power waiting to be unleashed. With his awakening, he will become a new Saint and embark on a new adventure.

Backstory of the events taking place before Saint Seiya.
The manga's story begins when a new threat arises while Athena's warriors are busy fighting Hades. To combat the new threat, Poseidon, the emperor of the sea, awakens.
The story recounts the birth of Saga and Kanon until the time of Saga's suicide before Saori in the defeat of the Battle of the Twelve Houses.
High school student Amatsuki Iori was summoned to a different world to fight as a brave of salvation, but whilst he was trying to save the world, he ends up being killed by the companions whom he wholeheartly believed in. It was then, when Iori thought that he already died, he came to his senses only to find that he was re-summoned to the same world, but in the future. Back again as a brave to subjugate the demon king which his former self had failed to defeat previously… Then, he noticed, that among the guys who ordered him to fight as a brave, the figure of one of his former comrades could be seen. 「……I will make you regret having betrayed me.」 A girl then appears before him as he is consumed by hatred, but not any ordinary girl – she is the former demon king who is also aiming to take revenge. The brave man who abandoned his heroic ideals, exchanging them for a burning desire to take revenge and the former demon king who seems ready to join him in his new-found quest.
Ten years have passed since four boys and girls were summoned from another world and defeated the Demon King. Arsal, a former hero who saved the kingdom and now serves in the royal army, finds himself falsely accused of a crime he didn’t commit. The king, blinded by peacetime complacency, ignores Arsal’s calm reasoning and mocks him as a useless burden, completely forgetting his heroic deeds. Fed up with such foolishness, Arsal abandons the kingdom, grabs his severance pay, and sets off on a carefree journey to enjoy a slow life. However, his overwhelming power makes the world see him as a dangerous threat aiming for world domination!? “Fine then — extinction it is.” Thus begins the tale of a betrayed former hero who will make this foolish world understand his worth — the start of a savage, retribution-filled brave story!
